SOCCER DRILLS YOU CAN DO ALONE
Soccer is the ultimate team sport. A team that plays well together can perform at a level much higher than the sum of it’s individual’s skills. But that doesn’t mean you can ignore your individual skills work. Ultimately, in many ways it’s those individual skills that raise the level of the whole team.
Here’s a great workout you can do on your own to help improve your game and raise the level of your team play.
Passing accuracy and trapping – Simple drill. Get a ball, find a wall. Pick a spot on the wall and do your best to hit it with a crisp pass. Then when the ball comes off the wall, do your best to trap and control it quickly. Too easy? Try a one-touch pass between traps. Try aiming higher and trapping the ball off your chest or knees. Harder still? Try juggling the ball first then hitting a pass without letting it touch the ground, then regain your juggle from the bounce off the wall. You get the point – there are plenty of variations of this drill. Make up your own as well! It’s a great way to improve your passing and trapping skills.
The point is, you get out of the game what you put into it. All you need to improve your game is a ball, a wall, and some patience.
Some of you might not know this, but the best soccer players in the world work on their individual skills relentlessly! It’s what makes them the best.
